Egg Omlette

A simple step-by-step guide to making a delicious egg omelette:

Ingredients you'll need:

- Eggs (2-3 eggs per omelette)

- Salt (to taste)

- Pepper (to taste)

- Butter or cooking oil (about 1 tablespoon)

- Optional fillings: grated cheese, diced vegetables (e.g., onions, bell peppers, tomatoes), cooked meats (e.g., ham, bacon), herbs (e.g., parsley, chives)

Step 1: Prep your fillings (if using)

If you're adding vegetables, meats, or cheese to your omelette, make sure they're chopped and ready to go. You can customize your omelette with any fillings you like.

Step 2: Crack and whisk the eggs

Crack the desired number of eggs into a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Use a fork or whisk to beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are well combined and slightly frothy. This helps make your omelette light and fluffy.

Step 3: Preheat your pan

Place a non-stick skillet or omelette pan over medium-low heat. Add about 1 tablespoon of butter or cooking oil to the pan. Allow it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan evenly.

Step 4: Pour the eggs into the pan

Once the butter or oil is heated, pour the beaten eggs into the skillet. Let them spread out evenly across the pan.

Step 5: Cook the base

Allow the eggs to cook undisturbed for a minute or so, until the edges start to set. You can gently lift the edges with a spatula to check.

Step 6: Add your fillings

If you're using fillings, now's the time to add them. Sprinkle your diced vegetables, cooked meats, cheese, and herbs evenly over one half of the omelette.

Step 7: Fold the omelette

Using a spatula, carefully fold the empty half of the omelette over the side with the fillings. This creates a half-moon shape.

Step 8: Finish cooking

Let the omelette cook for another minute or so, until the cheese melts (if using) and the omelette is cooked to your desired level of doneness. If you like your omelette well-cooked, you can flip it over gently and cook for a bit longer.

Step 9: Slide onto a plate

Once the omelette is cooked to your liking, slide it onto a plate using a spatula. The folded side should be on the bottom, and the top should be nicely cooked and slightly browned.

Step 10: Garnish and serve

You can garnish your omelette with a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a little extra cheese, or a dash of hot sauce, if you like. Serve the omelette hot and enjoy!

Remember, making the perfect omelette might take a bit of practice, especially when it comes to flipping and folding, but don't worry if it doesn't look perfect at first. The most important thing is that it tastes great!
