A step-by-step guide to making delicious and fluffy pancakes:




Basic Fluffy Pancakes Recipe


Ingredients you'll need:


- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk)

- 1/4 cup plain yogurt

- 1 large egg

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

- Cooking oil or butter for greasing the pan


Step 1: Prepare the Dry Ingredients

1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Ensure the dry ingredients are well combined.


Step 2: Combine the Wet Ingredients

1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk (or milk) and plain yogurt until smooth.

2. Add the egg to the buttermilk mixture and whisk until well incorporated.

3. Slowly pour in the melted butter while continuing to whisk the mixture.


Step 3: Mix the Batter

1. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients into the well.

2. Gently stir the mixture until just combined. It's okay if there are a few lumps in the batter; overmixing can make the pancakes tough.


Step 4: Preheat the Pan

1. Place a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Allow it to heat up, and you can test if it's ready by sprinkling a few drops of water on the surface. If they sizzle and evaporate, the pan is hot enough.


Step 5: Cook the Pancakes

1. Lightly grease the skillet with cooking oil or butter.

2. Pour a ladleful of pancake batter onto the skillet to form a circle. You can make the pancakes as large or small as you prefer.

3. Cook until you see bubbles forming on the surface of the pancake and the edges look slightly cooked.

4. Carefully flip the pancake with a spatula and cook the other side until it's golden brown.


Step 6: Repeat and Keep Warm

1. Continue making pancakes with the remaining batter, greasing the skillet as needed before adding more batter.

2. As you make each pancake, you can keep them warm on a plate in a low oven (around 200°F or 93°C) while you finish cooking the rest.


Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

1. Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, butter, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate chips.
