Double Ka Meetha



A step-by-step guide to making Double Ka Meetha, a delicious Hyderabadi sweet dish:


 Ingredients:


- Bread slices: 6-8

- Milk: 2 cups

- Sugar: 1 cup (adjust to taste)

- Ghee (clarified butter): 4-5 tablespoons

- Cardamom powder: 1/2 teaspoon

- Saffron strands: a pinch

- Assorted nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios): for garnish


 Instructions:


1. Prepare the Bread Slices:

   - Trim the edges of the bread slices and cut them into halves or quarters.


2. Fry the Bread:

   - Heat 2-3 tablespoons of ghee in a pan.

   - Fry the bread pieces in the ghee until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides. Add more ghee as needed. Alternatively, you can also toast the bread slices in a toaster or oven.


3. Make the Sugar Syrup:

   - In a separate saucepan, heat the milk and sugar together until the sugar dissolves completely.

   - Add cardamom powder and a pinch of saffron strands to the milk mixture for flavor. Stir well.


4. Soak the Fried Bread:

   - Once the sugar syrup is ready, dip the fried bread pieces into the hot milk mixture.

   - Let the bread soak in the milk syrup for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.


5. Assemble the Dish:

   - Arrange the soaked bread pieces in a serving dish in a single layer.

   - Pour any remaining milk syrup over the bread slices to ensure they are moist and flavorful.


6. Garnish:

   - Garnish the Double Ka Meetha with chopped or slivered almonds, cashews, and pistachios for added texture and flavor.


7. Serve:

   - Double Ka Meetha can be served warm or chilled, depending on your preference.

   - Enjoy this delectable Hyderabadi sweet as a dessert or a special treat during festive occasions.
