Jowar or Hurda (Sorghum) Bhel



A step-by-step recipe for making Jowar or Hurda (Sorghum) Bhel, a delicious and nutritious snack:


Ingredients:

- 2 cups jowar (sorghum) hurda (freshly harvested sorghum grains)

- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions

- 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes

- 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber

- 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)

- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts

- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)

- Salt to taste

- Chaat masala to taste (optional)

- Sev (crispy chickpea noodles) for garnish (optional)


Instructions:


1. Prep the Jowar (Sorghum) Hurda:

   - Rinse the jowar hurda thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.

   - Drain well and transfer it to a large mixing bowl.


2. Add Vegetables:

   - Add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and cilantro to the bowl with jowar hurda.


3. Add Peanuts:

   - Crush or chop the roasted peanuts and add them to the bowl.


4. Seasoning:

   - Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the mixture.

   - Add finely chopped green chili if desired for a spicy kick.

   - Sprinkle salt and chaat masala to taste.


5. Mix Well:

   - Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to crush the jowar hurda grains.


6. Serve:

   - Transfer the Jowar or Hurda Bhel to serving bowls.

   - Garnish with sev (crispy chickpea noodles) for extra crunch and flavor if desired.
